Steps of an Investigation of
Abuse/Neglect
Complaint is recieved and situation assessed,
eg. neighborhood dispute, misunderstand etc.
Check by local veterinarian to see if animal is recieving treatment.
On-site investigation. If cruelty or neglect is suspected, primary objective
is re-educate owner in the proper care of the animal, informing them
a follow-up inspection will be done.
Follow up. If no visible change has occured, the animal is confiscated
and examined to the owner.
If problem exists, animal is confiscated and prosecution by local Police
or R.C.M.P may follow.
